Position: Frontend Engineer
Team: Privacy Product Team
About the Role
TikTok is looking for a Frontend Engineer to be part of the Privacy Product Team and help build privacy-preserving user-facing features that meet end-user privacy needs while offering a good user experience. Within this role, you will contribute as part of a technologically innovative, high-tech focused team to produce effective work tools. This team is also responsible for mission-dependent platforms that are required to make TikTok operate.
As a Frontend Engineer, you will:
- Work with product management and design to create excellent UIs.
- Develop frontend systems that focus on usability, accessibility, aesthetic appeal, performance, and maintainability.
- Employ automated and manual testing to maintain product quality of the highest degree.
- Gain a thorough knowledge of TikTok to create user-friendly end-to-end systems.
- Develop and mature in partnership with a team, contributing knowledge and thought.
Key Responsibilities
- Create user-interactive functionalities that are amenable to performance measurement while preserving user privacy and meeting user needs.
- Participate in designing frontend systems for TikTok’s Privacy Product, as well as for other core internal products.
- Solve cross-browser CSS/JavaScript compatibility issues and optimize frontend performance.
- Design scalable solutions using existing frontend frameworks (like React, Angular, and/or Vue.js).
- Clarify backend technologies and database concepts to achieve seamless integration.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES5/ES6), CSS, and layout techniques.
Problem Solving:
- Experience in addressing browser compatibility issues and optimizing performance.
Tool Familiarity:
- Knowledge of continuous integration, build tools, and component-based development.
Framework Knowledge:
- Experience with React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar frontend libraries.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience:
- At least 1 year in software development.

Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary:
- Up to $168,000 per year, based on site, training, and years of experience.
Total Package:
- Includes discretionary bonuses, restricted stock units, and more.
